Australian road trip
We have now rented a “Chubby van”. In this camper we will cruise along the road on the east coast of Australia. From the 21th of march to the 17th of april we will be on the road down under. These are some of the regions we plan to visit: Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns, the sunshine coast, great barrier reef and probably a lot of other regions. We are also planning to visit some of our friends living in Australia.
We are very exited about our little adventure “down under” and looking forward to a lot of fun on the road.

As a Sydney-sider , don’t over-estimate how much of Australia you can see by van in four weeks. Australia is the size of western Europe or mainland USA and people misjudge the time it takes to get between places that are 100s if not 1000s of kilometres apart. Mind you, you list some of the highlights in your post. Drop me a line if you want to discuss some ideas further.
Thanks for the heads up. We do know that there’s a great distance from Sydney to Cairns, 2730 km to be exact, however we do not see this as a problem. We do of course know that in the short period of time we’ll be in Australia we’ll not be able to see and experience everything there is to see. Even though we’ll only be cruicing the east coast.
That is why, I’m sure, we’ll miss some places of interest, but we’ll also have enough time to get to know some parts of Australia, the pepole and the atmosphere in this great country. And maybe someday we’ll come back to see what we missed the first time.
By the way, if you know of some “must see” places near the coastline between Sydney and Cairns we would appreciate it a lot if you told us.
You sound fairly well planned and thought out. I’ll drop you a line on one of your listed emails with a few suggestions but so much depends on interests and tastes. Being in a van will give you good flexibility to get around. Our dollar has dropped dramatically in the last few weeks which should help make things a bit cheaper as well.
